COLOMBIA

Vitafort first contacted its colombian business partners in 2017, with the aim to discuss an important technology know-how transfer including feeding technologies, - with no claim of being exhaustive -  targeting an intensive technology know-how export for fish production in fish ponds. The European Union supports with important financial aids  the development of the region.

Colombia is the country of opportunities. Tourism and agriculture growth has been phenomenal in recent times. Colombia currently imports 70% of its food requirements. The country wishes to ease its high import dependency. Everything is given for growth: soil, climate and labour force. There are areas which get 4 metres of precipitation annually. It is possible to have several harvests in a year. Meat consumption mostly comes from beef, because the number of livestock kept on pastures reaches 22 million. Significant developments are expected in the future, with slaughterhouses being built and the processing industry being expanded.
